Frequently asked questions
1. What does it mean to be a 'single estate oil'?
It means that each bottle comes from a single estate and is not blended with any other. You can know exactly where it comes from, how it was grown, and when it was harvested. It's like a single-vineyard wine, but in oil form.
Normally, the industry blends different batches in order to create larger, more standardised productions. This way, they avoid confusing the consumer with flavour changes or disappointing them due to stock shortages. However, the land expresses itself differently each year — which affects the flavour of the oil — and we want to highlight that. That's why all our productions are limited and come from a specific harvest and estate.
2. Is Anècdota oil organic?
It depends on the bottle. For now, only the oil from the Lagravera estate is organic. The farming we practice is organic, but in order to label an oil as “organic”, three years of conversion are required so that the estates can eliminate any potential residues from conventional farming products accumulated in the soil.
For now, we can say that we are restoring life to the soil, prioritising biodiversity, respect, and transparency.
3. Is it suitable for cooking?
Yes, of course. But we recommend trying it raw to appreciate its nuances and creaminess. Additionally, a good raw oil can transform a simple dish.
4. Is it extra virgin?
Yes, always. All the oils you'll find in the shop are extra virgin.
5. What is extra virgin olive oil?
It is the highest level of quality within olive oils. It means that it has been obtained solely through mechanical processes, with no chemical treatments, and that it meets very strict analytical and sensory parameters: it must have an acidity of less than 0.8% and no taste defects. It must come from fresh olives (recently harvested).
6. When will my order be dispatched?
We prepare and dispatch orders once a week: every Wednesday. You will receive your oil within a maximum of 7 working days, depending on the day you place the order.
7. Where do you ship to?
For now, we ship to the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. If you live in the Canary Islands or another country, please write to us and we will see how we can get it to you.
8. How much does shipping cost?
€10. It’s free for orders over €40.
9. Does it need to be stored in the fridge?
You just need to store it at room temperature: in a cool place, away from direct light.
Oh! And please, don't leave it next to the stove ;)
10. And what if I make a mistake with the order?
Please write to us as soon as possible at hola@anecdotarural.com, and we will try to resolve it before the shipment is dispatched.
